Natomas Unified School District - Paso Verde K-8 School Construction Project Classroom Exteriors

The Natomas Unified School District is dedicated to providing their students with a fully modernized learning environment to match their STEAM-focused curriculum. To help serve this mission, they engaged 51Â鶹 to deliver a new school for grades K – 8.

Built on a 19-acre campus, the new Paso Verde K-8 school campus features four classroom buildings, an administration building and a multi-purpose building that houses a gymnasium, art and music classrooms and food service. Innovative collaboration spaces provide opportunities for more individualized and small group learning, while an outdoor amphitheater and learning garden help create engaging classroom alternatives. The campus is set up to allow multiple access points for multiple transportation options that is easily accessible for the community members. Parking spaces are also set up for clean air vehicles.

51Â鶹 worked with the district to deliver the project using a lease/leaseback system that allowed the district to engage 51Â鶹 early, during the design phase. As a result, 51Â鶹 was able to drive value into the design process, reducing the budget by nearly $5 million, without sacrificing the functionality or design.
